Welcome

The mission of PMEA is to advance music education by encouraging excellence in the study, teaching, and making of music. Our objectives are to promote and support quality music education, learning and performance, and support music education in schools and communities. Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) is an affiliate of the 65,000 member Music Educators National Conference (MENC.) PMEA is a service organization to music education in the Commonwealth. The membership includes those engaged in music instruction at all levels, from preschool through college and university, retired educators, as well as those in music industry.

In addition, students enrolled in music education may participate in collegiate chapters and secondary students may participate in Tri-M Honor Society. PMEA provides leadership in professional growth and offers special opportunities for musical development to school students.

2008 Acceptance Audition Information Online

Information for the upcoming 2008 Acceptance Auditions for chorus, band and orchestra are now online. Choral directors: please be sure to note the information regarding the audition solo and the piano audition materials (both are in .pdf format). Instrumental directors please note the revised registration and start time to the auditions this year (Registration 12:15pm-1:00pm / Meeting 1:00pm) (6/21/08)

2008 PMEA Summer Conference

For those of you registered and planning to attend the PMEA Summer Conferene in State College this July 21-22: please remember that attendees are responsible for making their own housing arrangements. Rooms are available at the Penn Stater at the rate of $100 for a single or double room, and $110 for a triple or quad. District 8 Bulletin Board

The District 8 Bulletin Board is now "open for business". Use the bulletin board to advertise current events in your district, post general announcements and discussions, or post a job opening or musician for hire. All that is required once at the bulletin board is to click on "register" and create an ID and password. (11/5/06)
