Dear District 8 Choir Director,
We are excited to once again sponsoring the 2nd Annual 2020 Middle School Choral Jazz Experience on Saturday, April 18th in conjunction with the 2020 PMEA District 8 Jazz High School Festival. We are again working to make this a memorable experience for your students. The day will include rehearsal, experiencing improvisation and will conclude by performing two selections to during the PMEA District 8 Jazz Festival concert. Mr Larry Fisher, jazz performer and music educator from the Southern Lehigh School District will be guest clinician and ensemble conductor for this event.
If you are interested in having students participate in this event, use this link and sign up by Tuesday, February 17th, 2020. (This submission link is for both the MS Jazz Band and Jazz Choir…make sure the appropriate boxes are checked.) Nominees should be in a priority-ranked list of 7th and/or 8th grade choral students (maximum 6 students) for a three-part choir ensemble. Voice one part will be the highest, voice three part will be the lowest with voice two part for our mid-range voices. The first name on your list is guaranteed to be a member of the ensemble; the rest will be distributed round-robin style to fill the sections.
Once the ensemble is selected, music and paperwork will be sent to you for those students to prepare from our host Ed Smith, from Selinsgrove Area. All completed paperwork should be sent to them. For those students selected, student registration will be $20, and will include lunch on that day. Registration on Saturday begins at 8:30 am at Selinsgrove Area Middle School, 401 18th St. in Selinsgrove. Saturday concert will begin at 4:00 p.m. in the Selinsgrove MS auditorium.
