Troy Jazz Dinner Concert

Friday evening, February 28, community members in Troy, PA were treated to an entertaining evening of good food and great music. The Troy Jr/Sr High School Band Program, supported by the Troy Area Band Boosters, held their 3rd annual Dinner Concert, featuring a classy meal served by members of the Troy Jr/Sr High School Band program, followed by a concert performance by the Troy Jr/Sr High School Serenaders Jazz Band. For the third straight year, the event drew in over 200 guests, to fundraise toward Boosters efforts to support students, for such things as future band trips, meals before long bus rides during football season, and to provide funds for supplement for classroom needs.
Williamson High School Band sends four students to
the Macy’s Great American Marching Band

Congratulations are in order for Anna Copp (Tenor Sax), Zachary Giovannini (Trombone), Daniel Horan (Trumpet), and Robert Satterly (Tuba) for being accepted into the Macy’s Great American Marching Band. This was an honor, and a once in a lifetime opportunity for students of the highest caliber across the nation. The expense was hefty (over $1,500 each) and included hotel, meals, rehearsal space, and NYC sightseeing over 6 nights. The students were able to raise enough funds thanks largely to generous donations from Williamson faculty, parents, and other fellow students and community members. Sending four students would not have been possible without their support. Students were seen live at Herald Square to kick off the start of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on NBC, and then got back in line to usher Santa Claus into the square at the end of the parade. All four students have grown from the experience and worked very hard fundraising to afford the trip. Band director Eric Lavelle took all four students down to their practice site in New Jersey the Saturday before Thanksgiving, and was able to get the picture you see here.
